Hack password dating site

(My email password is, of course, my porn name.) Even lazier passwords: “iloveyou” and “lovely” both beat out the simple password: “password”.

The hack job was done in January, but wasn’t revealed until the incident was exposed by security researcher Brian Krebs. The hackers were either a notorious gang of cyber-outlaws or some bored, hyper-genius 14 year-old conducting the hacking-escapades from this bedroom in rural Ohio.

And, like Ashley Madison (which was allegedly riddled with fembots to lure male users into paying for an account) there appear to have been millions of fake accounts on Mate1 too.

Although the hacker originally offered the dating site’s passwords for sale on the Hell forum for 20 Bitcoin (approximately ,700), it is unclear if the data actually sold for that amount.

Scamming unsuspecting lovers via dating sites is not uncommon, but people can usually spot a fake profile from a mile away.

Compromising legitimate profiles is a much smarter, albeit more insidious, way to go.
